Composition

Composition

For this project, I decided to take photos of certain things that stood out to me on campus. The composition aesthetics that show in my photos are close-up, symmetry, landscape, 2/3 rule and composition. I believe these photos truly captured the meaning of spring. The nature is beautiful and shows exactly what spring represents. My magazine story will discuss nature in terms of spring. Spring is burst of energy and life and I believe these photos portray this. So many things happen in the spring and I would like to show this in my photos.

Movie Poster

For my movie poster, I decided to recreate the thriller movie Gone Girl.

Before/After:

This is the original movie poster of gone girl. I did not completely remake it, however this poster definitely helped give me an idea of what/how I wanted to make my movie poster.

Below is my movie poster that I ended up recreating.

What I did to achieve this:

I used a dark twisty background of a forest since this movie is a thriller and I believe this was the right atmosphere. I photoshopped a shadow of a woman walking away to emphasize the fact that she is gone, and by doing so I used the quick selection tool to get rid of the background of the shadow of the woman. I then used the command T to drag her down and make her a proper size which would fit the scene properly. I added the movie credit text at the top because I felt like it looked better at the top rather than the bottom. I felt like if it was placed at the bottom it would ruin the overall poster by blocking the road. I used a scary kind of font for the movie title and added "stroke" and "inner glow" to the font because I wanted to be able to communicate a creepy feeling. I used the layers of vibrance and saturation to give the overall poster some color. I was also able to remove the blemishes using the spot healing brush and then following with the patch tool.

Challenges:

I definitely found this challenging since I started this with only a black background of a dark forest. I wanted to try my hardest to make this movie poster look as real as possible. I believe the end results of my movie poster have shown my improvement in this photoshop class. I believe that I achieved what I had wanted to accomplish to some extent, but I feel that there is always room for improvement.

Swatches

This is what inspired me to determine my colors. A mix of light and dark green with a hint of orange.  These are my color swatches...
